Dubai is implementing smart transportation systems, currently in the second phase of the project.
Dubai is currently actively implementing the second phase of a major project aimed at creating the world’s smartest transportation and road management system.
The first step towards safe and comfortable travel: Phase two of the Smart Traffic Systems project
Dubai, as always, is going all-in: soon, 100% of the city’s main roads will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies thanks to the “Intelligent Transportation Systems” project. This will significantly ease your commute around the city.
The future of Dubai’s transportation systems: what will change by 2026?
Advanced devices, including sensors, cameras, and technologies, will be installed on Dubai’s roads to monitor travel times and road conditions.
Surveillance cameras will be capable of identifying speed violators, instantly registering incidents or accidents, and notifying relevant services. New variable message signs and smart applications will help efficiently manage traffic, ensuring smoother travel.
Implementing modern technologies to enhance life in Dubai
Furthermore, traffic management in Dubai will use sensors to promptly inform the public about delays or congestion via smart apps and road signs. In critical zones prone to traffic jams, drivers will be offered alternative routes to reduce travel times.
The aim of all these measures is to ensure road safety and smooth traffic flow in Dubai, significantly easing morning commutes to work or school pickups.
Forecast for the coming years: expanding the system and improving service
Currently, smart technologies cover only 480 kilometers of roads, but by 2026, this figure is expected to increase to 710 kilometers.
The first phase of the Smart Transportation Systems project, directed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has already been completed. The first phase included installing 100 new accident sensors and 17 weather stations.
Moving forward: new directions in transportation infrastructure development
All these enhancements are managed from one of the world’s largest traffic control centers in Al Barsha. The first phase of the project has already reduced incident response times by 63%.
Additionally, improvements to transportation infrastructure are underway in various city districts to reduce congestion, including the opening of a free exit from Al Seba Street towards Qarn Al Sabkha Street in Dubai Marina.
The Al Khail Road improvement project is also aimed at reducing travel times, with bridges being constructed in areas like Zabeel, Meydan, Al Quoz 1, Ghadeer Al Tair, and Jumeirah Village Circle.
Dubai continues to actively develop, evolving into a global center for business, tourism, and living. Investing in property here is considered one of the most lucrative investment decisions. A stable economy, modern infrastructure, a high standard of living, and attractive business conditions make Dubai an appealing place to live and work. Thanks to active construction and modern investment programs, Dubai’s real estate market offers a variety of properties—from luxurious skyscraper apartments to cozy seaside villas—that cater to all needs and preferences.
