Dubai Transported Over 361 Million Passengers in the First Half of 2024
In the first half of 2024, Dubai recorded over 361 million public transport journeys, according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This represents a 6% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The average number of trips per day was 1.98 million.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of RTA, reported that the metro and taxis make up the largest share of passenger traffic, accounting for 37% and 27%, respectively. January 2024 saw a record high of 65 million users. On the Red Line of the metro, Al Rigga station led with 6.2 million passengers, while on the Green Line, Sharaf DG station topped with 4.7 million. The Dubai Tram transported 4.5 million passengers, buses carried 89.2 million, and marine transport served 9.7 million. Shared mobility options, including ride-hailing and hourly rentals, transported 27.8 million passengers, and taxis carried 97 million.
Plans and Achievements
Al Tayer highlighted that RTA’s strategic plans focus on developing an integrated public transport system and improving road infrastructure. The main goal is to increase the share of public and shared transport journeys to 25% by 2030.
