In October, Abu Dhabi to Open the World’s Largest Surfing Club with Artificial Waves
Surf Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s new attraction, is set to launch in October. This unique wave park on Hudayriyat Island will offer thrilling surfing experiences, including the world’s longest ride, the largest barrel, and the highest man-made wave. The park caters to surfers of all skill levels—from beginners to professionals.
Collaboration with Kelly Slater
The project, developed by Modon Properties, features collaboration with Kelly Slater, one of the most renowned surfers globally. Slater, who recently toured the park, praised its features.
“I’ve surfed many incredible waves around the world, and the wave in Abu Dhabi can definitely compete with the best,” said the 11-time World Surf League champion. “My surfing experience helped design the wave at Surf Abu Dhabi.”
Opportunities for All
While Abu Dhabi is not typically associated with surfing, Slater’s project is a significant development. Surf Abu Dhabi will provide exceptional surfing conditions for both seasoned surfers and newcomers.
Venue for Competitions and Training
Surf Abu Dhabi will not only attract surfing enthusiasts but also host international competitions. Jeff Fleeher, president of Kelly Slater Wave Company, noted that the project will offer ideal conditions for professional surfers to train and compete.
“We are excited to start our partnership with Modon and introduce Kelly’s world-class wave at Surf Abu Dhabi,” Fleeher said. “Our goal is to expand the surfing culture and invigorate the sport in the region.”
