Night beaches gain popularity among Dubai residents
During summer, temperatures in Dubai often exceed 45°C during the day, prompting many residents to seek relief in the coolness of night swimming. Dubai authorities have acknowledged this need and announced the opening of three new beaches for night swimming last year.
Unique experience of night swimming
Describing her impressions of the night beaches, a resident of Deira emphasized, “I am drawn to the atmosphere – the quietness, slowness, and tranquility.” She characterized her experience as “truly enjoyable,” adding, “The water is warm, with almost no waves, allowing for relaxation and enjoyment of the atmosphere. It’s a great way to relieve stress after a long day.”
Locations and safety
Dubai Municipality has established 3,800-meter-long night swimming beaches in Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim. Bright lighting systems are installed on the beaches to ensure lifeguards can monitor swimmers. Electronic screens display safety messages to enhance visitor awareness.
Popularity of night swimming
Mazen, a 25-year-old Emirati, has also embraced night swimming. “Since May, I stopped going to the beach during the day due to the heat and risk of dehydration. One of my friends recommended the night beaches, and it has now become a habit,” he shared.
Unique experience
Swimming in the sea under the stars is an unforgettable experience that you’ll definitely want to repeat.
