A New Era for Adventure Tourism in the UAE

In a landmark move, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah have joined forces to launch the UAE’s first cross-emirate hiking trail. The strategic partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on April 30 at the International Conference on Adventure Tourism, will connect Ras Al Khaimah’s dramatic mountain peaks with Fujairah’s wadis, heritage paths, and natural landscapes. The agreement was signed in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.

Bridging Nature, Culture, and Experience

The new trail will offer a unique route through:

  1. Mountainous terrains, desert valleys (wadis), and coastal landscapes

  2. Areas of cultural and historical significance

  3. Eco-friendly and sustainable tourism infrastructure

According to Brent Anderson, Chief Commercial Officer at Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), “This collaboration isn’t just about expanding tourism — it’s about building deeper connections between landscapes, communities, and cultures, while setting a new standard for responsible adventure tourism in the region.”

Ras Al Khaimah will showcase:

  1. Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest mountain

  2. Adventure experiences like Jais Flight, Jais Sledder, Jais Sky Tour, and Bear Grylls Explorers Camp

  3. A 97 km network of hiking trails, including the iconic Jebel Jais Rim Trail

Fujairah contributes with:

  1. Fujairah Adventure Park

  2. Scenic and historic hikes like Altaybbah Historic Route, Seven Summits Hike, Ain Al Sheria Trail, Wadi Al Abadilah, Sal Khail Trail, and Alaqqah Coastal Ridge
