Table of content

In 2024, Bali set a record by welcoming over 6.3 million international tourists, significantly exceeding expectations. By comparison, Indonesia as a whole saw more than 12 million international visitors, reaffirming Bali’s status as one of the region’s leading travel destinations.

Key Achievements in 2024

Between January and December 2024, Bali hosted over 6.3 million international visitors, surpassing forecasts of 5.5 to 6 million. This success was driven by enhanced marketing efforts, improved tourism infrastructure, and the recovery of the travel sector post-pandemic.

The largest segment of tourists remained visitors from Australia, accounting for 24% of all international arrivals in November 2024. India and China also showed significant growth, with India contributing 9.76% (46,150 visits) and China 5.75% (27,183 visits).

Bali’s Appeal to Tourists

Bali continues to strengthen its position by focusing on culturally sustainable tourism and increasing the average length of stay for visitors. In November 2024, the average stay at starred hotels was 3.01 nights, slightly higher than October’s 2.99 nights.

The focus is now on promoting new destinations such as North and West Bali. Travelers are increasingly exploring routes that include Lovina Beach, known for its resident dolphins, West Bali National Park, and the iconic Mount Ijen volcano in East Java.

Plans for 2025: Expanding Opportunities

For 2025, Bali aims to achieve a new milestone of 6.5 million international tourists. Tourism authorities emphasize the importance of attracting guests who stay longer, spend more, and respect the island’s culture.

Strategies include diversifying the tourist demographic, with a focus on countries such as South Korea, India, and China, while maintaining and optimizing the key Australian market. Additionally, domestic tourism is gaining attention, with combined routes between Bali and East Java expected to grow in popularity among Indonesian travelers.
