RTA Dubai transported 6.7 million passengers during Eid al-Adha
During the celebration of Eid al-Adha from June 15 to 18, 2024, Dubai’s transportation system demonstrated impressive figures. According to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), more than 6.7 million passengers used public transport, significantly exceeding last year’s figure of 6.4 million people. Such growth indicates the increasing popularity of public transport in the city.
Popular modes of transport
The metro was the most popular among Dubai residents and guests, chosen by 2.5 million passengers. This is unsurprising given the modern infrastructure and convenience offered by the metro.
Taxis also accounted for a significant share of passenger traffic, transporting approximately 2 million people. This highlights taxis as an important and sought-after part of the city’s transport system.
Other forms of public transport
Public buses also proved popular, with 1.4 million passengers opting for this mode of transport. Buses provide convenient routes and accessibility for a wide range of users.
Shared transport options such as minibuses and car-sharing services served 350,000 people. This underscores the growing interest in alternative modes of transport that offer flexibility and convenience.
Maritime transport attracted 280,000 passengers. Water transport options are a unique feature of Dubai, offering scenic routes and enjoyable trips on the water.
Trams transported 101,000 passengers, providing another convenient option for travel within key areas of the city.
