In the first half of 2025, Dubai’s public transport network recorded 395.3 million riders, a 9% increase compared to the same period in 2024. On a daily basis, over 2.18 million people use public transportation — a strong signal of urban growth and infrastructure expansion.

Metro and Taxis Lead the Way

The Dubai Metro and taxis continue to dominate the city’s transport network. As a symbol of convenience and efficiency, the Metro is now undergoing further expansion with the launch of the Blue Line, which is currently under construction.

🔵 The Blue Line will connect nine major districts, home to 1 million residents, and is part of the broader Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

Green Mobility: Electric Buses on the Horizon

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed contracts to add 637 new buses, including 40 fully electric vehicles — the first of their kind in the UAE. This is part of a long-term vision to make the entire public bus fleet electric or hydrogen-powered by 2050.

Additionally, 16 new bus stations and six depots were completed this month to enhance the quality of public transport services.

These efforts are not just about transportation — they signal a bold commitment to sustainability and liveability, making Dubai even more attractive for long-term residents and investors alike.

What Does This Mean for Real Estate Investors?

Transport infrastructure is a key driver of property value. New metro lines, improved connectivity, and rising ridership mean one thing: higher demand for real estate near public transport hubs. For rental property owners, this translates to stronger occupancy rates and better yields.
